Question: Do the Taxpayer advocate Service help?
My refund has been delayed for over a month and am not getting any response from the irs hotline, i havent even receieved the CP05 notice. I tried to call the Taxpayer advocate Service but all i got was wait it out, and the irs can take as long as they want when they are reviewing the returns. Can they actually help speed it up or are they a waste of time and i should just wait it out? i have heard people got their refunds 4-6 months after filing
Answer: The Taxpayer Advocate handles cases that have fallen through the cracks or where normal processing does not work. It does not go searching for lost refunds.
