Question: My friend was audit by irs , what to do?
My friend file his sister kids on his taxes and they sent him a letter stating he was audit and want him to prove the kids was in his care for @ least half the month. Is birth certificates and a notarized letter from his sister enough? please help……
Answer: Those could be a start.
If your friend also has medical records, school records, rental agreement indicating children, perhaps food and clothing bills if it is clear they are children’s, whatever might prove that the kids stayed with your friend.
If they are questioning it, consider that someone else may have claimed the kids. You want your friend’s evidence to be stronger that that mystery person. Hopefully it isn’t the sister.
