Question: How to file a claim of tax refund by mail?
My friend e-filed his Income Tax Return 2006 in March. However, he did not receive his tax refund. He checked his refund status in irs.gov on Saturday and knew that his check was mailed on March 30, 2006. Today, he called IRS to file a claim, but the IRS representative did not understand what he said because English is not his native language. Do you know the form and the address of IRS, where he can file a claim by writing. Thanks.
Answer: www.irs.gov, download Form 3911. Form should have a address to mail form if not address also available on www.irs.gov. Your friend can call 1-800-829-1954 for refund inquiries, and can ask for a person that speaks his language.
or call 1-800-829-1040 for more assistance.
He needs to know exactly how much his refund was for, address where refund was to mailed to.
