IRS Payment Addresses

Question: Change of address IRS?

I just realized that my rebate check may be mailed instead of being direct deposited since I had my turbo tax payment taken out of my check. I have since moved. My SS# ends in 88. If I mail the IRS Change Of Address Form now what will happen to my check? Will it be better to wait and have it mailed to my old address? Will it be forwarded or returned to the IRS? Will it take longer to get my check if I file the change of address now?

Answer: File Form 8822 with the IRS to update your mailing address. Also, but in a Change of Address notification with the Post Office to have your mail forwarded. The Post Office will forward the rebate checks, contrary to widely held misconceptions. The only mail that isn’t forwarded is mail that is marked “Do Not Forward,” and the IRS doesn’t mark tax refund or rebate checks with that endorsement.

Question: I found this on the SBBT site regarding Tax rebates?

SBBT INFORMATION

If you qualify for an economic stimulus payment and if you used SBBT to pay your tax preparation fees from your refund, the IRS will mail the economic stimulus payment directly to the address on your tax return. Your payment will not be direct deposited. For more information on the economic stimulus payments, go to www.irs.gov or call 800-829-1040.

Question: Can I get a tax deduction for Celiac Disease? Does it ever go away?

Since I have to spend a little more money and it is part of a cure I guess. Am I able to get tax deductions. Its from publication 502, but I don’t know if I’m included. Here is the link for publication 502:http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf.

I also want to know if it ever goes away. Or will I have to live with it the rest of my life.

Answer: 1. Celiac is an autoimmune disease like diabetes, lupus, etc. No, it never goes away and the only “treatment” is a strict, gluten free diet. This takes willpower and determination, but you can do it.
2. In the US, we keep getting mixed messages. I feel it should. There is an article about this subject on celiac.com, but before you start taking deductions I would be double checking that with an IRS agent to make sure you save everything that you can so you won’t get into trouble.
here it is:

http://www.celiac.com/articles/279/1/Tax-Deduction-for-Gluten-Free-Foods-as-a-Medical-Expense-for-Diagnosed-Celiacs-Only/Page1.html

print and copy that, keep it and the “regular” food prices written down as well as the reciept for your gf purchases. Keep it all in a folder and be ready with the proof should you be questioned.
Good luck! and happy healing. Start educating yourself ASAP about celiac. Celiac.com is a great place to start!

County must decide: law district, tax levy?

GOLD BEACH – Curry County Commissioners feel they must decide quickly on whether to ask voters to approve a permanent law enforcement district or to ask for a three- or five-year tax levy to fund the sheriff’s office, the Juvenile Department and the District Attorney when federal funds run out. In November, commissioners reached a consensus to ask voters to approve a Law Enforcement tax district …

IRS Payroll Tax Forms

IRS Payroll Tax Forms

Question: Tax forms confusion for small business owners! need help! ?

We own a small business in maine. He has 2 employees and one subcontractor. Is it correct that he needs to give the sub a 1099 for the year? Do we send the 1096 form (got it in the mail) to the IRS with the 1099?
Also we have someone do our payroll, they sent us copies of W-2s from the employees. Do we need to send them in somewhere or does the payroll companies usually do that?

Answer: Yes – you give the subcontractor his copy of the 1099, and you keep a copy, and then you mail the IRS copy of the 1099 in along with the 1096.

If they payroll company just sent you the employer copies of the W-2′s – then they’ve already mailed the W-2′s to the employees. The payroll company has taken care of the reporting to the IRS. That’s what you pay them for.

You could ask your employees to let you know if they don’t arrive.
