Question: Apply for a federal job at usajobs.gov?
I have applied for a IRS clerk position and my status is “Eligible – Application Referred to Selecting Official” What does that mean. If you ever been an federal employee, please let me know what this mean.
Also please let me know what the interview process is like.
Answer: Hi,
I have applied to several government jobs. One of my applications was determined to be eligible and referred to a selecting official. From my experience that means you were ‘rated’ or given a score and it is completely up to the hiring personnel to decide whether to give you an interview. In my case, I was not given an interview. You may also want to contact the official contact person for your other questions. And,feel free to visit my new blog called Jobless Genevieve which provides tips on job searching and the job application process. I’m going to post on federal jobs very soon. Hope my answer helps!Genevieve
