Question: What are the legal aspects of starting an online retail store?
Do I need any licenses? What forms will I have to fill out for the IRS. How do I handle sales tax? I live in NC and will have no other employees. Any information you could give me will be greatly appreciated. I’ve asked this question in the business section but the only answers I get are people trying to get me to fall for some get rich quick internet scheme.
Answer: sales tax and use license for residents for residents who purchase from you in the state you live. Residents outside of your state in general dont have to pay sales tax.
generally your social security number is sufficient for you to do business with the irs as a single sole proprietor business.
Liability insurance is a good thing.
