Question: Tax / Audit Question?
If you have not filed taxes for many years, and it catches up with you, is there a time limit the IRS can go back? Like if they want to audit or whatever it is called for not filing, is there statutory limits on the number of years they can go back? Example: If not filed in 10 years, can they go back the 10 years or just 3 or 6?
So I’ll put it like this.
If I (not really me) did not file in 10 years, what can happen? How many years do I need to show for, and what can happen?
Answer: No, if you haven’t filed, there’s no limit. The statute of limitations only starts running when the return is filed.
Business entertainment deductions: fun but complex
Taking a client out for lunch is one of the most basic business activities there is. And it’s one that can run a small business owner afoul of the IRS. There has been a tug of war for years between the government and businesses over entertainment expenses….
