Question: Got my first subpoena!!?
Hey – got my first subpoena from my former accountant! She did very little work, overcharged and when I became incorporated, she charged me extra for everything – phone calls, etc. and I had no idea this was going on. Also, she messed me up on my tax ID number and I am getting bills from the IRS saying I never filed from 2002 when I have all the documentation of where I filed each year. What do you think? I don’t think I have a case but I am going to pay her in pennies – about $800 worth.
Answer: Good plan. Check with your state government, there is likely to be some oversight board that deals with ethical questions about accountants. You may need to file a formal complaint.
