IRS W2 Form Instructions

Question: IRS 1040 forms & instructions?

This may seem like a dumb question but I don’t know anything about taxes. All of my tax stuff goes to my grandmas house & she brought the IRS 1040 forms & instructions, she always does my taxes for me. Since I got this book does that mean that she got my W2(not sure if that is what she fills out & sends in)?
So I dont need to do anything with the 1040?

Answer: No, it does not mean that.

The book is sent automatically to whatever address was indicated on the forms filed the previous year, even if there is no W-2.

Question: how do I prepare my business for a texas sales, excise and use tax audit?

My small business has just been notified of an upcoming limited sales, excise and use tax audit. I need to know what records they are going to want to look at so I can be as prepared as possible!

Answer: Check you email, I sent you some info. This is EXACTLY what my company does–audit defense work. They will ask you what records they want and then they may want to review your records, so make sure they’re available if they’re in storage or whatever. Just go along with what they ask you. If you end up needing defense against an assessment, let me know.

IRS Scam Letter

IRS Scam Letter

Question: Do I need to send my Colorado State/County sales and use taxes in anymore?

I got a letter in the mail from the IRS saying that I, no longer needed to send in my State/county sales taxes. I am a small, home-based business owner and have a sales/use tax liscence. My taxes are normally due on the 20th this month, but I don’t want to find out it was some sort of scam and get penalized for it. I still have to pay my city taxes. The letter said there was a new bill passed by congress saying that I would no longer have to pay the state and county.

Answer: You got no such letter from the IRS. The IRS has nothing to do with state sales taxes and Congress has no power to control state sales taxes within the state.

This sounds like a prank or scam. Pay your taxes on time.
