Statute Of Limitations Irs Taxes

Question: I have a question about back taxes.?
My mother owes about 40,000 in backtaxes from 1998 to 1999. She joint filed her taxes with my father and he failed to pay them. He is now completely disabled and in institutionalized care. My mother does not have the financial means necessary to pay them off. This amount reflects penealties and interest accumulated in 10 years.
Is the statute of limitations up for my mother? Can the IRS bother her anymore or garnish wages, take property? If not how can I help her since there is no way for her to pay back these taxes?
Answer: This is one of the few situations where an “offer in compromise” is likely to be accepted. She should offer an amount that she can pay, but more than the amount that the IRS believes that it would be able to obtain from her through garnishments, property seizures, etc.

Since 2005, Nazelli has been affiliated with three, 35-year old, top international risk management enterprises. They are traded on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. The three companies that Nazelli just described are Pre-Paid Legal Services, Kroll Background and GoSmallBiz.com. As a certified, independent representative, Dennis administers his clients’ membership applications for the services. But, he does a lot more after the paper work is turned in.

How Irs Audits Work

Question: irs audit before i can amend my return?
I made number errors that will trigger red flags in my schedule c returns but it was too late to amend. the irs has already ask me the come in for an audit.
Answer: Carefully and clearly document your income and expenses. Have all your bank statements and receipts for expenses together. The audit should focus on a limited number of items. You should document each number and if you can’t backup the number you put on your return be prepared to explain why. If you are honest and upfront with the auditor they may decide not to expand the audit into other areas/years. If the errors are large (15% of income or more) then you may wish to spring for the EA or CPA to represent you.
