Question: Why would the IRS call to verify wages and withholdings?
The IRS called my work to verify hubby’s wages and withholdings on his W-2. We filed a while ago and expected his return 1-30 bu it never came. We used turbo tax and I know the numbers were entered correctly, I did it. lol. What does this mean?
UPDATE: Checked the where’s my refund website and it said they found a mistake and adjusted the amount refunded and it should be deposited tomorrow? Also the phone number she gave us to call back is in New York if that means anything.Answer: Sounds like some one was phishing for info. To my knowledge the IRS does all there business and questioning through the mail.

Starting this year, the IRS has stopped sending those fat tax booklets to taxpayers’ doors a headache in the making for the millions who haven’t filed their federal income taxes electronically.
