IRS 4506 Form

Question: Question about IRS form 4506?

I was asked to fill out a 4506 form for a scholarship. And under line five it states” DO NOT SIGN this form if a third party requires you to complete form 4506, and lines 6 and 7 are blank” ( lines 6 and 7 are blank. So, am I really to leave the signature part of this form blank? it just doesn’t seem right.

Answer: No. This means if a third party sent you the form to sign and lines 6 or 7 are blank, do not sign.

Surely, the scholarship grantor asked you to submit copies of CERTAIN YEARS’ returns? In this case, fill in the form number and years, and sign the form.

I want to try to qualify for a palm harbor manufactured home and was wondering if when I bring in my SE Tax forms from last year if they would verify them with the IRS. Is it a normal practice of mortgage lending? Or if there is even a way to do this?

Question: How can I submit a Form 4506-T if I never filed taxes?

Hi, I’m back. I was requested by my school to submit a 2008 tax return form. I never filed because I didn’t have any income. I was told to file a 4506-T to the IRS, and wait for a response, and then I can send that response to the school from what I understand. Reading over the 4506-T, it looks like I’m supposed to have already filed a tax return in order to submit the 4506-T. I’m wondering if I can still file a 4506-T so I can provide proof to the school that I didn’t submit a tax return and it’s legal.

Thank You!
I’ve tried the IRS. I’m looking for a simple answer to someone who understands the 4506-T form. Thanks
Ok thank you guys. So when I fill out this 4506-T, it says “Name shown on tax return”. Why does it say that if I’ve not filed a tax return?

Answer: 7 Verification of Nonfiling, which is proof from the IRS that you DID NOT FILE a return for the year. Most requests will be processed within 10 business days…

Apparently you did not read the entire form.

Question: IRS tax form 4506 question?

My mortgage lender is asking for my 2006,2007, and 2008 tax returns. They have enclosed form 4506. Do I have to fill it out, send it to the IRS asking for transcripts of these returns? Can I just make copies of the returns myself????

Answer: That is an internal form that the mortgage company may use to make sure you have nor altered your returns. You send it back to your mortgage company signed & dated along with copies of your signed & dated tax returns they are asking for. They need both. Do not send it to the IRS yourself.
