Form Ss-4 IRS
Question: Where to get an EIN?
I have seen the actual form SS-4 on the IRS site and I know for a fact I will make a lot of mistakes. So I need a company or just someone who can fill it out, and obtain it for me, I have seen several sites online such as Legal Zoom and Mycorporation and their prices to do such simple task are outrageous! Hope someone can recommend something. Many points!
Answer: First off, are you sure you really need an EIN? Read IRS “Do you need an EIN” to determine if you need it or not http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=97872,00.html
Try to set up an appointment with SCORE or SBDC in your area. But don’t ask for an appointment merely to help fill out the form. Request for strategic consultation with your business, and then mention the EIN to them.

IRS Estate Tax Form

Question: Texas inheritance tax question. My Grandmother passed away. Will you help me with tax advice?
My Grandmother passed away this year. She left her house to her two remaining children with instructions in her will. The will said they were to sell the house and split the money 50 / 50. My mother’s portion of the house turned out to be $82,000. How does this work now? Does she claim that she inherited $82k cash or $82k in real estate? What tax credits would she be eligible for since this was her mother’s house? What forms do we need to send to the IRS and Texas? Thank you for all your help. If you have no idea… please do not leave an answer for a point. There are plenty of crazy… not so serious questions for that.
Answer: If your mother had title to her part of the house, then she inherited the house and sold it. This would be reported on Schedule D for her federal tax return. If the house was sold for what it was worth when she inherited it, no tax would be due.
If your mother never had title to the house but the estate sold it and distributed the proceeds to the heirs, there would usually be nothing to report on the federal tax return.
Texas has neither estate nor income tax.
