IRS I-9 Tax Form
Question: Where can I get old i-9 forms?
I would like do a research project for my class about tax dollars spent on federal tax forms. Does anyone know where i can get copies of old I-9 forms. These are the only old ones I cant find on the IRS web site. We would like to note changes made (however minute) and then get estimates on how much it would cost to make those changes. And how much it costs businesses to get the updated forms. Which increases overhead each year and decreases raises (that’s what we think is going to be the result of our research).
Answer: The I-9 form is not an IRS form and is not a tax form. It is managed by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service. Here’s a link to the current form on their website: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf
They do not appear to make older versions available, probably because there is no need to make them available to the general public. The current version, published on 5/31/2005 rebranded the form from the old INS to USCIS.

The title of this blog is preposterous, you say. The “Grand Old Party” and “Socialism” — the words are simply inaptly juxtaposed in the same sentence.

IRS K-1 Forms
Question: Can a capital loss reported on a schedule K-1 (form 1065) be used to offset a realized capital gain?
A large capital loss of $150,000.00 is going to be received by me on a schedule K-1 (form 1065) in 2008. If I sell a non qualified variable annuity that I purchased in 1996 and has no surrender charges can I offset the realised gain from the annuity against the K-1 capital loss? Also I am not 59 and a half yet so there will be a 10% IRS penalty for the sale of the annuity, I have been told that only the realised gain is subject to the penalty and not the original investment amount, is this correct? Finally would the 150,000.00 K-1 capital loss qualify me for a hardship exemption so I do not have to pay the 10% penalty?
Answer: 1. The capital loss on the k-1 will flow to the schedule D. Any gains that are also reported on the schedule D will absorb the loss. If you have a loss at the end of the form, you can take $3000 against ordinary income and carry the rest forward.
2. What form will the cashing out of the annuity create? If it’s a 1099-R (which I think it will be), it’s reported on the front of the 1040 and doesn’t go anywhere near the schedule D. Thus is won’t cancel out the loss. The penalty form 5329 has waivers, but hardship isn’t one of them.

IRS 2004 Tax Forms

Question: How can I file my 2004 taxes!!?
The IRS owes me money, and I know I have a ywo year window to file after the deadline… I just dont know how to file my 2004 taxes. Is there a special form…?
Answer: Call the number and request the forms you need. http://www.irs.gov. They won`t bite your head off they are very helpful. You do not have a year window, the most you could have had was from april to august of 2005 if you have filed an extention. Please trust me on this as I have dealt with the IRS for MANY years. Did you receive a 1099? Depending on your income ,filing status & dependents you may not owe anything. There are many many deductions even if you are filing from a 1099.

2001 IRS Forms

Question: I need to file my 2001 taxes, that was the last time I worked?
My stimulus check was confiscated by the IRS because I didn’t file taxes for 2001 and 2002. I worked 1/1/01 till 10/01, then collected unemployment from 10/01 until 4/02. If I just filed for working, and hadn’t collected in 01, I would have gotten a refund. However, unemployment didn’t take out taxes, so I have to pay for unemployment income from October till December 01. (I would think that would be a wash). Then, however, I would owe on unemployment from 1/02 till 4/02. I don’t have any of the paperwork i.e., W/2 and whatever the unemployment form # is. Can I get all the numbers from the IRS and DOR, or do I have to get it from my previous employer and DEA, (unemployment office)? Any information you could give me would be very helpful. I have been on disability since 4/2 so I don’t have to file anymore. Except for this past year, in order to receive the stimulus. .
Answer: Are you saying that you think the refund you would have gotten from working the first 10 months of 2001 would have covered the amount you owed on the unemployment? That’s possible, but you’d have to fill out the return to find out. If there is any net refund, it’s too late to collect it, but if you still owe, then you’d have to pay it. And for 2002, if nothing was withheld, you’d owe if you made enough to have to file.
You should be able to get the numbers from the IRS that you’ll need in order to file.

Question: Can I get a tax deduction for Celiac Disease? Does it ever go away?
Since I have to spend a little more money and it is part of a cure I guess. Am I able to get tax deductions. Its from publication 502, but I don’t know if I’m included. Here is the link for publication 502:http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf.
I also want to know if it ever goes away. Or will I have to live with it the rest of my life.
Answer: 1. Celiac is an autoimmune disease like diabetes, lupus, etc. No, it never goes away and the only “treatment” is a strict, gluten free diet. This takes willpower and determination, but you can do it.
2. In the US, we keep getting mixed messages. I feel it should. There is an article about this subject on celiac.com, but before you start taking deductions I would be double checking that with an IRS agent to make sure you save everything that you can so you won’t get into trouble.
here it is:http://www.celiac.com/articles/279/1/Tax-Deduction-for-Gluten-Free-Foods-as-a-Medical-Expense-for-Diagnosed-Celiacs-Only/Page1.html
print and copy that, keep it and the “regular” food prices written down as well as the reciept for your gf purchases. Keep it all in a folder and be ready with the proof should you be questioned.
Good luck! and happy healing. Start educating yourself ASAP about celiac. Celiac.com is a great place to start!
