Oregon IRS Tax Forms

Question: I need a copy of my 1040 ez for my FASFA . . .?

Ok, I’ll make this short. I am from Oregon and my dad is in Oregon and I am in Alaska for the summer working. My dad is filling out my FASFA for me (for school) and he needs my tax return information. I know I have a copy of it somewhere at my apartment but he can’t find it, so I need a copy of my 1040 EZ form, quickly. How do I do this? I know I can do it by going to the IRS website, but I’m lost past that. Thanks!

Answer: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc156.html

A transcript is all you need, and that’s a lot faster than getting an actual copy, besides being free. You might run into a problem though, since they aren’t necessarily available yet for 2008 filing.

IRS Number To Check On Refund

Question: I typed in the wrong account number when I submitted my taxes, will I get my refund back?

I was one number off and I checked the IRS “Where’s My Refund” website and it has already been deposited to the wrong account on 6 Feb 09, obviously not my account because I checked and it never got there. I used TaxActOnline.com, I still think they are awesome, after all, I made the mistake, not them. Will I be able to get my refund back? Anybody have any advice on what I should do? Or am I just stuck without a refund?

Answer: The direct deposit probably already bounced back to the IRS when they tried to deposit it into the wrong account because it obviously did not have your name on it. You need to contact the IRS and let them know and you will still be able to get your refund. It will take a little while though because they have to wait until your refund kicks back from the bank and then they can act on it and redo it, although they may have to mail you a paper check instead. I don’t think they let you change account numbers to correct your error over the phone due to security purposes so don’t count on another direct deposit. But probably in another week to 10 days you should get your refund after you have called them and explained the error to them.

EDIT: I just found this on the IRS site about refund inquiries…question #19—-

You omit a digit in the account or routing number of an account and the number does not pass IRS’ validation check, IRS will send you a paper check for the entire refund;

You incorrectly enter an account or routing number and your designated financial institution rejects and returns the deposit to IRS, IRS will issue a paper check for that portion of your refund; or

You incorrectly enter an account or routing number that belongs to someone else and your designated financial institution accepts the deposit, you must work directly with the respective financial institution to recover your funds.

500 people on Central Coast owed money by IRS

Bob Cudd y Five hundred people on the Central Coast – 81 in San Luis Obispo County – are in the unusual position of having the Internal Revenue Service owe them money. “(It’s) not exactly man bites dog, but we really do want to return $456,000 in undelivered refunds to 532 Central Coast taxpayers as quickly as possible,” said Jesse Weller of IRS media relations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Federal IRS Contact Number

Federal IRS Contact Number

Question: Did anyone file with TaxAct and Not not get their tax refund yesterday? Mine said 1/29/10 but I never got it!!?

I filled my taxes with taxact on 1/16/10 and was accepted by the IRS on 1/18/10. The IRS said my refund was deposited on 1/29/10 but there is nothing in my account. I called my bank all day and was told to call back today 1/30/10 and still nothing. I called Republic Bank that takes out the fees and asked where my money is. I was told they deposited it on 1/28/10 and I had to wait 4 days for the federal trade to release the funds. I asked for a confromation number or a tracking number to verify the deposit. I was hung up on, I called back and she gave me an answering machine. This company is a rip off. I have never had this problem. If anyone needs to contact the Republic Bank their number is 1-866-491-1040. Can this company be sued for running a scam and lying to the people that worked hard for their money?

Answer: I filed with taxact – the free edition – I had no fees taken out and our deposit date was 1/29 and it was a no show as well. I’m frustrated about it, but just going to sit tight for a while, I mean it does tell you the deposit date isn’t guaranteed when you get your confirmation email from taxact – so I don’t see anything I could do anyway ;)
