Question: What state tax form does a Massachusetts Limited Liability Company (LLC) use?

Hello,

My friends and I formed a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in the State of Massachusetts. We filled out a 1065 and K-1s for the IRS, but cannot figure out what, if anything, we must file with Massachusetts state. If it is important, 2008 was our first year and we did not make any money.
Thanks for your help!

Answer: The MA partnership return is filed on Form 3 and 3-K1. It is very similar to the Federal filing.
You can print the forms you need at:

Question: REVISED: Mom passed away leaving my daughter as beneficiary on an Annuity?

Here is more specific information on my previous question: My daughter could not have the money until she turned 18. When she turned 18 she cashed out the annuity being a death benefit inheritence and took the money and put it away in a savings account for college. At the end of the 2009 year she was sent a 1099-INT form with gross disb. being $50, 219.00 (box 1) and taxable amount being $27,525.00 (2a). This was the only income she had and we paid over $5,000.00 in IRS taxes. Now after talking with others (not accountants) I’m being told that since this was an inheritance it was supposed to be tax free up to $100,000.00. We all are in Calif.

Answer: Only the portion that already existed when the death occurred is an inheritance. That is the only part that is tax-free. The taxable amount is the portion that was added during the years between the death and now, which is not an inheritance and is not tax-free.

Early income-tax filing not the best deal

The early bird doesn’t always get the worm. Moreover, said a consumer-finance expert in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences, being in a hurry to file your federal income tax forms in pursuit of a quick refund isn’t always the best idea.

Question: I need to file my 2001 taxes, that was the last time I worked?

My stimulus check was confiscated by the IRS because I didn’t file taxes for 2001 and 2002. I worked 1/1/01 till 10/01, then collected unemployment from 10/01 until 4/02. If I just filed for working, and hadn’t collected in 01, I would have gotten a refund. However, unemployment didn’t take out taxes, so I have to pay for unemployment income from October till December 01. (I would think that would be a wash). Then, however, I would owe on unemployment from 1/02 till 4/02. I don’t have any of the paperwork i.e., W/2 and whatever the unemployment form # is. Can I get all the numbers from the IRS and DOR, or do I have to get it from my previous employer and DEA, (unemployment office)? Any information you could give me would be very helpful. I have been on disability since 4/2 so I don’t have to file anymore. Except for this past year, in order to receive the stimulus. .

Answer: Are you saying that you think the refund you would have gotten from working the first 10 months of 2001 would have covered the amount you owed on the unemployment? That’s possible, but you’d have to fill out the return to find out. If there is any net refund, it’s too late to collect it, but if you still owe, then you’d have to pay it. And for 2002, if nothing was withheld, you’d owe if you made enough to have to file.

You should be able to get the numbers from the IRS that you’ll need in order to file.
