i have recently completed my degree in accountancy, and want to apply for the graduate recruitment programme. i am very confused about career choices…like i need to choose a specific field which could be either auditing or business performance services or tax or internal auditing….i am not sure what kind of future opportunities they hold. i have been an above average student,like i have a few HDs and Ds and some credits…..i am really confused and if someone can guide me. i will appriciate the valueable suggestions. i have checked the kpmg website but still could not decide. plz help!

Answer: Give the HR people a call and ask them about the different streams. Put your name through and speaking to them will enable them a better chance of remembering your name down the line.

I know this might seem a bit scary but trust me, HR people in big companies are usually very friendly and would be very impressed and happy to give you more details about their programs.

Also, KPMG attends annual career fair days. They should be holding them now (if you are in Australia). Check their website as they should have all the dates up. Go to them and speak to their reps.

Either way a quick 5 min call will go a long way.

Russ is Chosen as Acting Superintendent for East Aurora Schools

The East Aurora School Board voted 6-0 on Wed., Jan. 12 to named Brian Russ as acting superintendent effective Feb. 19. Russ, who has been serving as the district’s chief information officer, will take over for Superintendent James Bodziak, who has accepted a post at the Frontier Central School District.

Raytheon Company announced fourth quarter 2010 Adjusted EPS of $1.57 per diluted share compared to $1.31 per diluted share in the fourth quarter 2009, up 20 percent. Â The increase was primarily driven by operational improvements and capital deployment actions. Â Fourth quarter 2010 EPS from continuing operations was $1.37 compared to $1.30 in the fourth quarter 2009.

Question: IRS AUDIT – has anyone been audited by the IRS for fraud??

Have you ever been audited for tax fraud? what was the outcome? I am talking about fraud on individual taxes. Please tell me what happend to you.

Answer: Well not fraud, but I have been “negotiating” with the IRS for a long time and I do know a few things. First, like anything potentially criminal, always have somebody else speak for you. For any type of fraud they have to prove you KNEW you were intentionally misleading them. This can be very difficult. BUT they way they will get you is if you change your story from one interview to the next. SO, if you are not sure it is best to just say you do not recall rather than try to force a memory. Or the files were not kept, or were lost. I am not saying go and lose things, that is just more trouble. But I am saying if you are not 100% sure what was in there and why, then just say I do not recall for sure. If you try to recreate memories of things you’ll change answers even slightly from time to time and you will appear guilty. Good luck. Tell the truth if you remember it, but don’t try to force anything.

Question: Taxes when accepting a Purchase Order being a Sole-Proprietor?

I own a small online business of wholesale goods. Im talking to a school now that wants to purchase around $350 worth of goods from me.

My online business is not really registered with BOE or anything like that. It is just under my name I believe.

Right now, a school wants to purchase from me.

Theyre asking me to fill up a form, which includes filling up the “Business Name” and “Tax Identification Number”.

Would you guys suggest that I still push through with the order, that I have to give my SS, name, and DBA? This is my first time accepting a purchase order, and I dont really want to lose this client just for this small reason.

My only concern is that giving my SS to the client might lead into a “audit” problem in the future, if ever irs investigates me.

I do plan however to sign up for a business permit this April, so this probably be my only time doing a PO under my name.

Answer: It is simple to get a Tax Identification Number and register your business with the IRS….
